Catering services is one of the most popular type of food service in the industry today. One feature that made it popular is its capability to serve food in remote places. Mobile FoodsMobile catering serves food directly from a vehicle or cart that is designed for the purpose. The main difference of mobile catering from the catering services we see in weddings is that their services are more to provide food in urban areas such as outdoor events, workplaces, and downtown business districts. Different types of mobile catering or caterers include: street carts (of food carts), catering trucks, food trucks, and concession trailers.
A street cart of food cart is a type of mobile caterer that can be hauled by automobile or by bike from one point of sale to the other. These would often include places such as a public sidewalk or park. Food carts usually serve easy to cook/prepare foods such as: Hot dogs and other sausages; Tacos, burritos and other Mexican-style food; Halal food; Ice cream; Coffee, bagels, donuts, egg sandwiches and other breakfast items.
Catering trucks are usually made to serve a larger market compared to food carts. The service is similar; the truck carries a stock of prepared foods that customers can buy.
Similar to catering trucks, food trucks are also known to serve a larger market compared to food carts. The difference is that food trucks often have a built-in grill, deep fryer, or other cooking equipment. It offers more flexibility in the menu since the vendor can prepare food to order as well as fresh foods in advance. Food trucks are usually found in open area events such as in concerts.
A concession trailer, on the other hand, is much similar to food trucks, particularly with its own kitchen equipments. However, unlike the food trucks, concession trailers cannot move on its own.
